And there really isn’t a 3.8 cutoff! I know a few people who got in with 3.7s, even 3.6s. It depends on a lot of other things too.

Right, some schools would rather have the kid who overcame tough situations and has slightly lower grades than the one from a private school with a 4.0 but nothing unique to offer.
Some essays from 4.0 students with perfect writing are honestly the most boring because their lives are just too predictable.

Totally agree, the culture here can be so toxic. But blaming it all on the forum itself seems unfair.

Depends on what you read, I guess.
There’s good info on here, but I get that seeing posts like ‘Is my life over because of a B in sophomore year?’ and ‘Am I done for because of one bad grade?’ can be draining.
