I applied to about 30 scholarships and won 3 national, 1 state, 1 regional, and 7 local awards. Totaled about $80,000 over 4 years. I feel really lucky.
I’ve applied to 29 scholarships—rejected from 6, won 3, and waiting on the rest.
One of them was a merit scholarship from my university worth $48,000 over 4 years! Another was a $1,000 scholarship from a dentist’s office that only 4 people applied for.
Rejections are frustrating, but it only takes one win to make a difference!
Micro-scholarships add up! Look for local businesses and organizations in your area that offer small scholarships ($250-$1,000). They’re often overlooked but can help a lot.
I’ve won a few, but one covered everything—including extra benefits. Don’t lose hope!
I was lucky enough to get enough financial aid and scholarships to cover my college without taking out loans. Most of my funding came from my university and government aid, but I also won three external scholarships worth $12,000 total. Two were local, and one was from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
@Charlie
I won one from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation too!
I got a merit-based scholarship when I applied. Other than that, I’ve tried applying for a finance company scholarship but haven’t had any luck yet. Where else should I look?
