I’m trying to understand the process of how they select demonstrated financial need. My EFC is 0 as a non-traditional student and also a single mother. Any help is appreciated. The few scholarships I’ve qualified and applied for, are all demonstrated needs based.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but yes, I believe you would qualify for need-based scholarships. With a 0 EFC, you’re not expected to contribute anything towards your college expenses.
Yes, you qualify for need-based scholarships. You should also be receiving support from FAFSA, I believe.
It depends on your state of residence and the college you’re applying to. Have you applied for FAFSA? Also, have you reached out to the financial aid office at the college you’re applying to?
Yes to both. I’ve received a significant tuition-based scholarship, but it doesn’t cover expenses like food, books, and fees, so I’ve applied for some outside scholarships to help with those costs. I’m wondering if my tuition scholarship might impact my eligibility for additional scholarships. I’m in PA.
FAFSA is also providing a substantial amount, so I’m close to covering the tuition portion entirely.
Yes, having a 0 EFC covered all my expenses at college.
