How do you apply for the HOPE Scholarship?

To apply for the HOPE Scholarship, visit the official website of your state’s education department, complete the application with required documents, and submit before the deadline for consideration.

Applying for the HOPE Scholarship in Georgia can seem confusing, but don’t worry, it’s not that complicated!

There are two main ways to apply for the HOPE Scholarship:

  1. FAFSA: This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Filling out the FAFSA automatically considers you for the HOPE Scholarship (as well as other federal grants). It’s generally recommended to complete the FAFSA each year you’re in school.

  2. GSFAPPS: This is the Georgia Scholarship/Grant Application. This is another option, especially if you don’t plan on applying for federal financial aid.

To apply for the HOPE Scholarship, visit your state’s education department website, complete the application with the necessary documents, and submit it by the deadline.

The FAFSA is the only thing you have to fill out to apply for the HOPE scholarship. At the Georgia school I go to, the HOPE scholarship is automatically credited to your account through the bursar.

You have the option to complete either the FAFSA or the Georgia State Financial Application (GSFAPP) for your application. If you choose the FAFSA, you will be evaluated for both Georgia financial aid (Zell/HOPE) and Federal financial aid (Pell Grant, loans, etc.).
