How rare is it to get the Presidential Scholarship?

Today, my mom got a letter from Loyola Chicago saying I was accepted, which is awesome! But she also said I won the Presidential Scholarship and medallion, which pays up to 31k. My grades and SAT weren’t great, so I’m wondering, could my essay really have been that amazing, or what are the actual requirements to get this scholarship?

It’s mostly about your grades. If you had really high grades (like straight A’s or close), then you could get that scholarship. I got it too, even though my essay wasn’t anything special, and I didn’t even send my SAT scores.

Do you know what the highest scholarship would be for someone with a 3.97 UW GPA, a 4.6 W GPA, and a 35 ACT? I’m out of state, but I really want to go to Loyola. The only issue is money. I don’t qualify for need-based aid though, and I’m not a national merit scholar (I never took the PSA).

@Wylie
My GPA is only a 3.1, which I didn’t think was that great.
