Why is applying for scholarships so hard? … Anyone else feel the same?

Has she looked into local scholarships? They’re usually less competitive than the big national ones. I’ve had better luck with them.

We’ve checked out CollegeBoard for NC scholarships, but most of them are need-based. With an SAI of 29,125, we don’t qualify for much. Trying to juggle all these different websites is starting to break my daughter’s spirit.

@Mica
We don’t qualify for need-based either, but sometimes local businesses like car dealerships and TV stations offer scholarships. Try looking into industries like oil, gas, or healthcare. You may have already done this, but see if your employer offers scholarships for employees’ kids. I know it’s tough when you don’t qualify for need-based scholarships. Good luck!

Search for scholarships by city, county, and then state, as well as by the colleges your daughter is interested in. There are also national scholarships like Coca-Cola that offer large rewards for students who excel in multiple areas. Don’t give up!

If your daughter is interested in a career in medicine, you should also check out the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program. They provide funding for students in exchange for working in underserved areas after graduation. You can look at their website for more info.
