I graduated last spring with a 3.5 GPA, 1110 SAT, 25 ACT, 89 CLT, and received 75% of the Bright Futures scholarship. I’ll be starting at my university in January and need to secure additional scholarships before then. Given my current situation and my family’s financial constraints, I’m looking for a full ride. Are my chances slim?
Have you already applied for FAFSA?
I tried, but unfortunately, my dad is unable to file due to complications with his income and paperwork.
First of all, congrats on the Bright Futures award! That’s a fantastic achievement.
I know the situation might seem daunting right now, but don’t lose hope. If you keep working on applying for scholarships, you’ll increase your chances of finding additional funding. Focus on deadlines, especially for scholarships that end in or before January, so you can get results in time for the start of your university. For those with later deadlines, you’ll just receive the money after January if you win.
It’s essential to stay organized. Create a schedule, and start by applying for one scholarship a week. Once you’re comfortable with the process, you might want to ramp up to applying for two a week. Remember, applying for smaller scholarships can also increase your chances of winning something, even if it’s not a full ride.
You’ve got this—I’m rooting for you!
You’re welcome! It’s totally normal to feel anxious, but remember, taking proactive steps can make a big difference. I appreciate your encouragement, and I’m rooting for you too! Enjoy your senior year—it really does fly by!
