Do You Have to Pay Back Scholarships? Need Clarification

I’m in the process of applying for scholarships to help fund my college education, and I have a few questions about how they work. Specifically, I’m a bit confused about whether or not you have to pay back scholarships. I’ve heard conflicting information and want to make sure I understand everything before I proceed.

Scholarships are basically free money for school! They help pay for your tuition (like class fees) and other costs. Unlike loans, you never have to pay them back! That’s why scholarships are the best kind of financial aid!
