I’m looking for some clarity on Ivy League schools and their approach to athletic scholarships. I know that these schools have a strong emphasis on academics, but I’ve heard mixed things about whether they offer athletic scholarships.
Do Ivy League schools provide any kind of financial aid for athletes, or is it primarily based on academic merit? If they do offer scholarships, how competitive is it, and what do I need to know about the application process?
I’m considering applying to an Ivy League school as a student-athlete and would love to hear from anyone who has experience or knowledge about this topic. Thanks in advance
Despite their reputation for academic brilliance, Ivy League colleges do not provide athletic scholarships. Rather, they offer students financial aid depending on their needs.
While your sports prowess may get you into an Ivy League institution, athletic scholarships are not given to accepted students. Ivy League scholarships are also awarded to student-athletes based on their need for financial assistance.
You don’t need to be an athlete. The Ivies like well-rounded applicants, and one way to demonstrate that is to get great grades while also participating in a sport. However, not everyone at the Ivies is interested in sports. There are additional strategies to become well-rounded.
