I’m honestly really curious because I haven’t seen that many people claim they’ve gotten scholarships, and I feel like a lot of us have been lied to with the idea that there are millions of unclaimed scholarships just lying around begging to give you money. I’m just curious to see how much people actually get by applying to scholarships, compared to spending the time elsewhere.
While it’s true that there are many scholarships available, the competition can be fierce. It’s essential to research and apply strategically. Success varies widely, with some receiving substantial awards and others finding the process less fruitful. Time spent on scholarship applications can pay off, but it’s crucial to balance with other activities that contribute to your goals and well-being.
My daughter has been working hard to apply for scholarships for college. She’s sent in applications for 93 of them over the past year. So far, she’s been awarded 5 scholarships, totaling $152,500. She’s also a finalist for a couple more, and we should find out if she wins those by mid-July.
We keep track of all the scholarships she’s applied for on a spreadsheet. Sometimes we don’t hear back from some of them at all. But for the ones she doesn’t win, some nice ones will send her an email to let her know.
