I’m just going to college because everyone expects me to, and I don’t really have a better plan. I picked my major because it seemed interesting, but I don’t have any concrete goals for the future.
I’m stuck on scholarships that ask about my goals and how I plan to achieve them. So far, I’ve only written about my past and how it led me to choose my major, but that doesn’t really fit the prompt. I’m just not sure what else to say. Can anyone help?

It might help to look for work or do research in the major you’re interested in. That could give you more experience and ideas for your goals.
I get that. It’s hard to come up with specific goals when you’re not sure where you’ll end up. But try this: take your major and come up with a goal around it, even if it’s not 100% clear where it’ll take you. Then, just make the goal sound more concrete. For example, if you’re studying accounting but don’t know exactly what you want to do, you could write something like: ‘In five years, I see myself as an accountant at a real estate company. I’ve always had an interest in real estate, and I know I’ll be able to create useful spreadsheets and help the company make decisions that benefit people.’ You can take your major, set a basic goal, then add details to make it sound more specific.
Take some time to think about how what you’re doing now can help you later on. It’s okay if you’re not sure right now, just try to figure out what you want for yourself in the future.
