My daughter is planning to attend college in 2025. We live in NC, and her class rank is 37 (within the top 10%). Her SAT score is 1540, with an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and a weighted GPA of 4.67. We are a South Asian family with an annual income of $165,000. She’s interested in the pre-med track at UNC or NC State. What scholarship options should we consider? Any advice would be appreciated.
I run a STEM scholarship foundation, and it looks like your daughter meets the criteria. Here’s a link to check out: www.williamrsmithfoundation.org

As a UNC alum, I can tell you a couple of things: 1) Given your daughter’s income, she should focus more on merit-based aid. If she gets into UNC as an NC resident, her tuition should be more affordable since UNC is a public school. 2) The best way to apply for university-based merit scholarships is directly through the school. When I applied, we had to submit scholarship applications at the same time as the university application, but those deadlines are usually in the Fall (September-November), so she might have already missed that window. For other scholarships, I recommend using scholarship engines like Fastweb, Scholarship Owls, JLV Counseling, and Frontier Local Schools (they have monthly lists of scholarships).
