What is a Need-Based Scholarship?

Hello folks…

I’m currently researching different types of scholarships for college and came across the term “need-based scholarship.” I understand it has something to do with financial need, but I’m not quite clear on how it works or what qualifies someone for it.

Could someone explain what a need-based scholarship is, how you can apply for one, and what criteria are typically used to determine eligibility? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated…

Need-based scholarships are given to students who can’t afford college. These scholarships are based on how much money a student’s family makes.

A need-based scholarship is financial aid provided based on a student’s financial situation. Organizations and institutions award scholarship money to students who come from low-income backgrounds, depending on their expected contribution toward college tuition.

A need-based scholarship is financial assistance provided to students based on their demonstrated financial hardship.
